Job Title:  Media Relations Consultant

Seahorse Environmental Communications designs and executes political campaigns and communications programmes that enhance both the natural environment and the commercial success of our clients.

We are looking for a Media Relations Consultant with experience of working in press and media roles. The successful candidate should have solid experience of planning and delivering successful media and PR campaigns across a range of environmental issues and have strong links to lobby journalists and environmental media.

Core responsibilities:

·        Drafting and selling in press materials to trade, print and broadcast media

·        Contributing to the development of strategic communications and campaign planning

·        Monitoring policy developments and identifying opportunities

·        Advising clients on the media agenda

·        Drafting media comments, Q&As and key message documents

·        Building media contact lists on behalf of clients

·        Media monitoring, research and coverage metrics

·        Contributing to business development

·        Undertaking research; writing proposals and briefings

·        Attending or arranging meetings as required

Essential requirements:

·        A demonstrable passion for tackling environmental issues

·        An excellent writer who can write in several different styles e.g. blogs, op-eds, eye-catching tweets, press releases, quotes and speeches

·        Organised, with strong time management skills and excellent attention to detail

·        Proactive, good at coming up with ideas for creative campaigns and news stories

·        A creative thinker when it comes to selling in stories to the media

·        Fluent in digital media – comfortable using multiple platforms and considering how they might be used to help our clients achieve their objectives

·        Strong links to lobby journalists and environmental media

·        Understanding of UK politics / the policy environment

Desirable requirements:

·        Experience with photo/video editing

·        Knowledge of environmental policy
